Hello, I’m a writer, director, and editor living in West Hollywood.
Derrick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Media from American University in Washington, D.C, where he was awarded a Kodak Student Film grant. He launched his professional career as a freelance editor in New York working on documentaries and commercials.
During the era of burgeoning independent Brooklyn music, Derrick began directing music videos for artists, including Ninjasonik, The Death Set, and Maluca. His highly creative vision naturally translated in to the development of original, digital and broadcast, content for internationally recognized brands such as Adidas, Land Rover & Intel.
His short film Prospect (2013) played at over a dozen festivals, including Urbanworld, and is licensed for cable television. The documentary short Amazing Journey premiered at the Virginia Film Festival (2015). Derrick’s first feature film, Pink Opaque (2019) is currently in post-production.
For the world to be interesting, you have to be manipulating it all the time.
